Homemade Orange and Strawberry Jam

A perfect combination of sweetness and citrus, ideal for accompanying bread, cookies, or any dessert you desire.

Ingredients:

• 1 kg of oranges (preferably organic)
• 500 g of fresh, ripe strawberries
• 700 g of sugar
• Juice of 2 lemons

Preparation Instructions:

1. Preparing the Fruit:
• Wash the oranges thoroughly. Peel them and remove the white inner part (albedo) to avoid bitterness. Cut the pulp into small pieces and remove the seeds.

• Wash and disinfect the strawberries. Remove the stem and cut them into halves or quarters, depending on their size.

2. Initial Cooking:
• In a large pot, place the orange pieces, strawberries, and lemon juice.
• Cook over medium heat for about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is soft and releases its juice.

3. Add the sugar:
• Add the sugar to the hot mixture. Stir well until completely dissolved.

4. Cook the jam:
• Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking.
• During cooking, you will notice how the mixture thickens and takes on a deeper color.

5. Check the consistency:
• Place a teaspoon of the jam on a cold plate. Let it cool for a moment and then tilt the plate: if the jam runs slowly, it is ready. If it is very runny, cook for a few more minutes.

6. Canning:
• Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.

• Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving a little space at the top.

• Seal tightly, and if you want to keep it longer, you can vacuum seal it (boil the sealed jars for 10 minutes).

Enjoy!
This jam is ideal with toast, yogurt, cookies, crepes, or even as a dessert filling.
