๐ INGREDIENTS
For the cake:
โพ๏ธ2 ยฝ cups all purpose flour
โพ๏ธ6 tbsp โ cocoa powder
โพ๏ธ1 tsp baking soda
โพ๏ธยฝ tsp salt
โพ๏ธ1 cup butter milk
โพ๏ธ1ยฝ tbsp vinegar
โพ๏ธ200g unsalted butter
โพ๏ธ2 cups sugar
โพ๏ธ1 tsp vanilla essence
โพ๏ธ4 eggs
โพ๏ธยผ cup fresh cream
โพ๏ธ1ยฝ tbsp red food colour
For the frosting:
โพ๏ธ230 gram cream cheese
โพ๏ธ150 gram unsalted butter โย (at room temperature)
โพ๏ธ3 cups powdered sugar/Icing sugar
โพ๏ธ1 tsp vanilla essence
๐ PROCEDURE
โพ๏ธPreheat the oven to 180.
โพ๏ธGrease two 8โ round cake tin with butter and line with parchment and keep it ready.
โพ๏ธIn a deep bowl, sift together all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
โพ๏ธIn another bowl, combine together buttermilk and vinegar and keep it ready.
โพ๏ธIn another bowl, cream together butter and sugar till creamy.
โพ๏ธTo this add vanilla essence and eggs (one at a time) and beat till combined, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally.
โพ๏ธAdd the cream to this mixture and combine well.
โพ๏ธAdd the flour mixture and buttermilk to this mixture little by little and stir till combined.
โพ๏ธNow add the red food colour and combine evenly.
โพ๏ธPour this batter in the prepared cake tin and bake for about 35 โ 40 minutes or till done
(check by inserting a tooth pick at the center of the cake, if it comes out clean, the cake is done.)
โพ๏ธRemove it from the oven and cool it at room temperature for about 20 minutes.
โพ๏ธRemove the cakes from the cake tin carefully and cool it over a wire rack.
โพ๏ธCut the cakes on top to get neat layers (reserve it to garnish the cake).
For the frosting
โพ๏ธIn a deep bowl, beat together all the above ingredients till soft and creamy, for about 5 โ 6 minutes.
For layering:
โพ๏ธPlace a layer of red velvet cake and spread ยผth of the prepared cream cheese frosting.
โพ๏ธPlace the other red velvet cake on top and cover the top and sides with the remaining cream cheese frosting and do the decoration with the help of icing bag.
โพ๏ธGarnish with the cake crumbs.
โพ๏ธServe cooled.
๐ NOTE
โพ๏ธPrepare buttermilk at home if readymade one is not available.
โพ๏ธFor 1 cup of milk, add 1 tsp vinegar, combine and leave it for about 10 minutes and use in the recipe.
