BUÑUELOS WITH HOLE 😋
Ingredients:
25 g fresh baker’s yeast
350 ml of lukewarm water
500 g of wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups of oil to fry.
½ cup of sugar to coat
Preparation:
- Dissolve the yeast in a little warm water and add the rest of the water, using a wide container.
- Add the flour and salt, kneading with your hands until you get a soft and sticky dough.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for about 60 minutes.
- Prepare a pot or deep frying pan with oil and heat over medium low heat without letting it smoke.
- Shape the buñuelos by taking a portion of the dough with an open hand and then closing it so that a portion comes out between the index finger and thumb.
- Take that portion with the other wet hand and dipping the thumb to make the hole.
- Carefully drop the dough into the oil. Put as many portions of dough as will fit in the pan without crowding so they don’t stick.
- Cook until browned on one side and flip to brown on the other. In batches of 5 units, it takes about 4 minutes.
- Remove the fritters from the oil, drain well and put on absorbent kitchen paper to remove excess oil.
- Sprinkle the fritters with sugar.
- Serve and enjoy.
