Chocolate Layer Cake with Ganache

Ingredients

For the cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup hot water or hot coffee

For the chocolate filling/frosting:

200 g dark chocolate
1 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp butter

For the ganache topping:

150 g chocolate
3/4 cup heavy cream
Optional topping:
Whipped cream

Instructions

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease two or three cake pans.

In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.

Stir in the hot water or coffee (the batter will be thin).

Pour batter into pans and bake for 30–35 minutes.
Let cakes cool completely.

Make the filling
Heat the cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chopped chocolate.

Add butter and stir until smooth.
Let it cool slightly until spreadable.

Assemble the cake
Place one cake layer on a plate.
Spread chocolate filling.
Add the second layer and repeat.

Make the ganache topping
Heat cream and pour over chopped chocolate.
Stir until smooth.

Pour over the cake for a glossy top.
Decorate
Add whipped cream on top if desired.

✅ Chill the cake 30 minutes before slicing for clean layers.
