Philly Cheesesteak Recipe
Ingredients
300 g thinly sliced ribeye steak (or sirloin)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced (optional but popular)
1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
Salt and black pepper, to taste
4 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz or American cheese)
2 long sandwich rolls (hoagie rolls)

Instructions
1. Prepare the steak
Freeze the steak for 30 minutes to make slicing easier.
Slice it very thinly against the grain.
2. Cook the vegetables
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan.
Add onions (and peppers/mushrooms if using).
Cook until soft and lightly browned.
Remove and set aside.
3. Cook the steak
Add the remaining oil to the pan.
Add the thinly sliced steak.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook for 2–3 minutes, chopping the meat with a spatula until browned.
4. Combine
Add the cooked onions (and other veggies) back into the pan.
Mix with the steak.
5. Add cheese
Place cheese slices on top of the hot meat mixture.
Cover the pan for 1 minute until melted.
Stir to combine into a cheesy mixture.
6. Assemble the sandwich
Toast the hoagie rolls lightly.
Fill with the cheesy steak mixture.
Tips for the Most Authentic Taste
Ribeye is the traditional cut because it’s tender and juicy.
Provolone or Cheez Whiz are the classic cheese choices.
Keep ingredients simple—Philly cheesesteaks are all about the meat & cheese!
