Steak with Creamy Mushroom Gravy & Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

For the Steak
2 beef steaks (ribeye or filet mignon)
Salt & black pepper (to taste)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter

For the Mushroom Gravy

1½ cups mushrooms (sliced)
1 tbsp butter
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 cup beef broth
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt & black pepper (to taste)

For the Mashed Potatoes

3 large potatoes (peeled & chopped)
2 tbsp butter
¼–½ cup milk (warm)
Salt (to taste)
Garnish
Chopped chives or parsley

Instructions

1. Mashed Potatoes
Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender.
Drain and mash with butter and warm milk.
Season with salt and keep warm.

2. Cook the Steaks
Season steaks generously with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Sear steaks 3–4 minutes per side (or to desired doneness).
Remove steaks and let them rest.

3. Mushroom Gravy
In the same pan, add butter and mushrooms.
Sauté until golden and soft.
Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer 2–3 minutes.
Add cream and simmer until thickened.
Season with salt and pepper.

4. Assemble
Place mashed potatoes on a plate.
Top with steak.
Spoon mushroom gravy over the steak.
Garnish with chopped chives.

Serving Tip
Perfect with steamed green beans or roasted vegetables on the side.
