Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup whole milk (plus more as needed)

Directions:
Beat the butter:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until creamy and smooth (about 1–2 minutes).
Add dry ingredients:
Gradually add powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Start on low speed to prevent a sugar cloud, then increase to medium and mix until smooth.
Add vanilla and milk:
Pour in vanilla extract and 1/4 cup milk. Beat for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.
If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk (1 tbsp at a time).
If it’s too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
Frost your cake:
Once the cake is completely cool, use a spatula or offset knife to frost between the layers and over the top and sides.
Optional Add-ins:
1 tsp espresso powder – enhances chocolate flavor
2 tbsp peanut butter or Nutella – for a flavor twist
1/4 tsp cinnamon or chili powder – for a hint of warmth or spice.
