Grandma’s cake – tender and fluffy!

Grandma’s cake is a nostalgic delight, permeating the air with its aroma of vanilla and love.  Its spongy texture melts in every bite, while family memories intertwine with its comforting flavor.  A timeless recipe that unites generations with its sweetness, recognizing the time and love in each slice.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup (200 g) of sugar

• 1/2 cup (115 g) melted butter

• 2 eggs

• 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract

• 2 cups (250 g) of wheat flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

• 1/4 teaspoon salt

• 1 cup (240 ml) of milk

Preparation:

1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake tin.

2. In a large bowl, beat sugar and melted butter until mixture is smooth and creamy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Add the vanilla essence and mix until incorporated.

4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with the milk.  Start and end with the dry ingredients.  Mix until the dough is smooth, but avoid over-mixing.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown and has risen.

8. Once ready, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a rack to cool completely.

9. You can sprinkle a little icing sugar on top to decorate before serving.
