Chocolate Lava Cookies

Chocolate Lava Cookies

Ingredients

For the cookies:
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
1/2 cup (115g) butter (softened)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

For the filling:

150g milk chocolate (or chocolate spread like Nutella)
2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the filling:
Melt the chocolate with cream (microwave or double boiler).
Stir until smooth.
Chill in the fridge for 30–45 minutes until thick.

2. Make the cookie dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.

Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
Gradually add dry ingredients to form a soft dough.

3. Shape the cookies:
Take a small portion of dough and flatten it.

Add a spoon of chocolate filling in the center.
Cover with another piece of dough and seal the edges.
Shape into a round, thick cookie.

4. Bake:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Place cookies on a lined baking tray.
Bake for 10–12 minutes.

5. Cool & serve:
Let cool slightly—the center stays soft and gooey.
Serve warm for best “lava” effect.

Tips
Don’t overbake or the center won’t be gooey.
Chill the filling well before using.
You can dust with cocoa powder or sugar for a smooth finish like in the picture.
