Chocolate Layer Cake

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup hot water or hot coffee
Chocolate Cream Filling
1 cup heavy cream
200 g milk or dark chocolate, chopped
Chocolate Ganache (Glaze)
1 cup heavy cream
200 g dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

1. Make the Cake
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line two or three 8-inch pans.

In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Slowly add hot water/coffee and mix well (batter will be thin).
Divide batter into pans.

Bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely.

2. Prepare the Chocolate Cream Filling
Heat the cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chopped chocolate.
Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
Chill slightly until thick but spreadable.

3. Prepare the Ganache
Heat cream until hot.
Pour over chopped chocolate.
Stir until glossy and smooth.
Let cool slightly so it thickens.

4. Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a plate.
Spread chocolate cream filling evenly.
Repeat with remaining layers.

Pour ganache over the top and sides.
Decorate with chocolate drizzle or nuts if desired.
Tips
Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor (no coffee taste).

Chill cake 20 minutes before slicing for clean layers.
Store in the fridge up to 4 days.
