Cheesy Steak & Caramelized

Cheesy Steak & Caramelized Onion Grilled Sandwich

Ingredients:

4 slices thick bread (sourdough or sandwich bread)
200–250 g cooked steak, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
4 slices mozzarella or provolone cheese
2 tbsp butter (softened)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp barbecue sauce (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

Caramelize the Onions
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
Cook slowly for 10–15 minutes, stirring often, until soft and golden brown.

Remove from pan and set aside.
Prepare the Steak
Warm the sliced steak in the same pan for 2–3 minutes.
Add black pepper and barbecue sauce if using.

Assemble the Sandwich
Butter one side of each bread slice.
Place one slice of bread (butter side down).
Add cheese, steak, caramelized onions, then another cheese slice.
Top with another bread slice (butter side up).

Grill the Sandwich
Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat.
Cook sandwich for about 3–4 minutes per side until bread is crispy and golden and cheese is melted.

Serve
Let it rest for 1 minute, slice, and enjoy while warm.
