Moist Chocolate Loaf Cake

Ingredients:

For the cake:

1 cup (200g) sugar
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (50g) cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup (120ml) milk
1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120ml) hot water

For the chocolate frosting:

1 cup (150g) chocolate (dark or milk)
1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream

Instructions:

1. Prepare the cake batter
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Grease and line a loaf pan with baking paper.

In a bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

Slowly pour in the hot water and mix gently.
The batter will be thin—this is normal and gives a moist cake!

2. Bake
Pour the batter into the loaf pan.
Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before adding frosting.

3. Make the frosting
Heat the cream until warm (do not boil).
Pour it over the chocolate and let sit 1–2 minutes.
Stir until smooth and glossy.
Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
Enjoy!

This loaf is rich, soft, and perfect with tea, coffee, or as a dessert.
