Luxurious Black Velvet Cake
Ingredients
For the Black Velvet Cake
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cups (350 g) sugar
¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder (dark cocoa if possible)
2 tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk
½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (240 ml) hot coffee (or hot water)
1–2 tsp black gel food coloring (optional, for deeper color)
For the Luxurious Cream Cheese Frosting
450 g cream cheese (softened)
1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter (softened)
4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar (sifted)
2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Optional: black food color if you want black frosting

Instructions
1. Make the Cake
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
2. Grease and line two 8-inch (20 cm) cake pans.
3. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
4. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
5. Add the hot coffee and mix gently (batter will be thin — normal!).
6. Add black food coloring if using.
7. Pour batter into pans and bake 28–32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
8. Cool completely.
2. Prepare Cream Cheese Frosting
1. Beat butter and cream cheese until creamy.
2. Add powdered sugar gradually.
3. Mix in vanilla & pinch of salt.
4. For black frosting, add black food gel gradually.
3. Assemble
1. Level the cakes if needed.
2. Spread frosting between layers, then frost the entire cake.
3. Chill for 20–30 minutes for clean slices.
Tips for a Truly Luxurious Cake
Use dark Dutch-process cocoa for deeper color.
Replace coffee with hot water if preferred — but coffee enhances the chocolate flavor.
Add ½ cup melted dark chocolate to batter for extra richness.
Chill before slicing for perfect layers.
