Chocolate Mousse Cake

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake (base):

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

½ cup cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

2 eggs

½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup milk

½ cup hot water

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

For the Chocolate Mousse:

1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream (very cold)

200g dark or milk chocolate, chopped

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

For Decoration (optional):

Chocolate shavings

Cocoa powder

Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Make the Cake Layer

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt.

3. Add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla, and mix well.

4. Add the hot water and mix until smooth (the batter will be thin).

5. Pour into a 20–22 cm cake pan.

6. Bake 25–30 minutes.

7. Let it cool completely.

2. Prepare the Chocolate Mousse

1. Melt the chocolate using a microwave or double boiler; let it cool slightly.

2. In a bowl, whip the cold heavy cream + sugar + vanilla until soft peaks.

3. Add the melted chocolate gradually and fold gently until smooth and fluffy.

3. Assemble the Cake

1. Place the cake layer in a springform pan.

2. Spread the chocolate mousse evenly on top.

3. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (or overnight) to set.

4. Decoration

Dust with cocoa powder

Add chocolate shavings

Pipe whipped cream on top.
