Macaroni Gratin

Macaroni Gratin Recipe

Ingredients:

250 g macaroni (or any pasta)

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

2 cups milk (about 500 ml)

1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or mixed)

½ cup parmesan (optional)

1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

Salt and black pepper

A pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Breadcrumbs for topping (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Pasta

Boil macaroni in salted water until al dente.

Drain and set aside.

2. Make the White Sauce (Béchamel)

In a pan, melt butter.

Add flour and stir for 1 minute.

Slowly add milk while whisking to avoid lumps.

Cook until thick and creamy.

Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Add half of the grated cheese and mix.

3. Prepare the Gratin

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

Mix macaroni with the cheese sauce.

Pour into a baking dish.

Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.

Add breadcrumbs for extra crispiness (optional).

4. Bake

Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Serve

Enjoy hot with salad or grilled chicken!
