Chocolate Truffle Cake

Chocolate Truffle Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 and ½ teaspoons baking powder

1 and ½ teaspoons baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

2 cups sugar

2 large eggs

1 cup milk (or buttermilk)

½ cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup hot water or hot coffee

For the Chocolate Ganache:

200 g dark chocolate (chopped)

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon butter

For Decoration:

Chocolate chips (for sides)

White chocolate (for spider web pattern)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake Batter

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.

2. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In another bowl, whisk sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix.

5. Pour in hot water (or coffee) gradually and mix until smooth and slightly thin.

2. Bake

1. Divide batter into the pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

2. Let cakes cool completely.

3. Make the Ganache

1. Heat cream until just simmering (don’t boil).

2. Pour over chopped chocolate. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

3. Mix in butter for shine. Let it cool until thick but spreadable.

4. Assemble the Cake

1. Place one cake layer on a board. Spread ganache evenly.

2. Place the second layer on top and cover the entire cake with ganache.

5. Decorate

1. Press chocolate chips around the sides of the cake.

2. For the top: drizzle white chocolate in concentric circles over the ganache.

3. Use a toothpick to drag lines from the center outward to create a spider web pattern.

6. Chill & Serve

Chill for 30–60 minutes before slicing.
