Nutella Swiss Roll Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For the chocolate sponge cake:
4 large eggs (room temperature)
100 g (½ cup) granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
40 g (⅓ cup) all-purpose flour
30 g (¼ cup) cocoa powder (unsweetened)
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt
For the filling:
200 g (about ¾ cup) Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)
150 ml (⅔ cup) heavy cream (optional, for a lighter filling)
For decoration (optional):
Powdered sugar or cocoa powder for dusting
Extra Nutella drizzle or melted chocolate

Instructions
1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 10×15-inch (25×38 cm) baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Make the sponge batter:
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together using an electric mixer for about 5 minutes, until thick and pale.
Add vanilla extract and mix briefly.
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until smooth (do not overmix).
3. Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared tray and spread evenly.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cake springs back when touched.
4. Roll the cake (while warm):
Place a clean kitchen towel on the counter and dust it with powdered sugar.
Turn the warm cake onto the towel and peel off the parchment paper.
Roll the cake gently (with the towel inside) from the short end.
Let it cool completely (about 30–40 minutes).
5. Prepare the filling:
Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form (optional step).
Gently fold the Nutella into the whipped cream — or use plain Nutella if you prefer a richer filling.
6. Assemble the roll:
Unroll the cooled cake carefully.
Spread the Nutella filling evenly over the surface.
Roll it back up tightly (without the towel).
7. Chill & serve:
Wrap the roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with Nutella before serving.
Tips
Do not overbake — it makes the sponge dry and hard to roll.
Rolling while warm prevents cracks.
For extra flavor, add crushed hazelnuts or chocolate chips inside.
