Fried Chicken Drumsticks with Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
For the fried chicken:
6 chicken drumsticks
1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tbsp lemon juice)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
Oil for frying
For the mashed potatoes:
4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 tbsp butter
¼ cup warm milk (adjust for creaminess)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: a pinch of paprika and chopped chives for garnish

Instructions
1. Prepare the chicken:
1. In a bowl, mix buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Add the drumsticks and marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavor).
2. In another bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
3. Remove each drumstick from the marinade, coat it well in the flour mixture, and shake off excess flour.
2. Fry the chicken:
1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
2. Fry drumsticks in batches for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
3. Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
3. Make the mashed potatoes:
1. Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes).
2. Drain and mash with butter and warm milk.
3. Season with salt and pepper. Adjust milk for desired creaminess.
4. Serve:
Serve hot fried chicken beside creamy mashed potatoes.
Sprinkle paprika and chopped chives on top for color and flavor.
