Chocolate and Orange Marble Cake

Ingredients

For the orange batter:

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (200 g) sugar

3 eggs

1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil

1/2 cup (120 ml) orange juice

Zest of 1 orange

2 tsp baking powder

For the chocolate batter:

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (200 g) sugar

3 eggs

1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil

1/2 cup (120 ml) milk

1/3 cup (40 g) cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

For the glaze (optional):

100 g dark chocolate

1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a bundt cake pan with butter and dust it with flour.

2. Prepare the orange batter:

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add oil, orange juice, and orange zest. Mix well.

Sift in flour and baking powder, and stir until smooth.

3. Prepare the chocolate batter:

In another bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until fluffy.

Add oil and milk, and mix well.

Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, and mix until smooth.

4. Create the marble effect:

Pour a layer of chocolate batter into the center of the pan.

Then pour a layer of orange batter right in the middle of the chocolate layer.

Continue alternating both batters until they are used up.

5. Bake for about 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.

6. Prepare the chocolate glaze (optional):

Heat the cream until hot but not boiling, then pour it over the chocolate.

Stir until smooth and glossy.

Pour over the cooled cake.
