Chocolate Bon Cake
Ingredients:
1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (200 g) sugar
1/2 cup (60 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs (room temperature)
1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (warm)
1/2 cup (120 ml) hot water or hot coffee
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Ganache:
200 g dark chocolate (chopped)
3/4 cup (180 ml) heavy cream
1 tbsp butter

Instructions:
1. Prepare the oven: Preheat to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line a round cake pan (or mini molds for bon-size cakes).
2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Mix wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Combine: Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Mix until smooth. Add hot water/coffee and stir gently (batter will be thin).
5. Bake: Pour into the prepared pan(s). Bake 30–35 minutes (for a large cake) or 15–18 minutes (for mini molds), until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
6. Make ganache: Heat cream until just about to boil, pour over chopped chocolate, let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Add butter for shine.
7. Assemble: Pour ganache over the cooled cake, or dip mini cake cubes in ganache to make “bonbon-style” cakes. Let set.
