Famous King’s Bread

Ingredients:

150 ml warm milk
150 ml warm water
130 g melted butter
130 g sugar
10 g dried yeast
2 eggs
690 g flour + 30 g extra
1 tsp salt
20 g cocoa powder
Dulce de leche to taste
Chocolate chips
Egg yolk (for brushing)

Preparation:

In a bowl, mix the warm milk, warm water, melted butter, sugar, dried yeast, and eggs until fully combined.

Add the 690 g flour and the salt and mix until you get a dough. Divide the dough into two parts.

To one part, add the additional 30 g of flour and knead until you get a soft, smooth dough. Let it rest until it doubles in size.

Add the cocoa powder to the other half of the dough. Knead well until smooth.

Once both doughs have rested, roll them out. Place the yellow dough first, then the chocolate dough on top.

Add a few spoonfuls of dulce de leche and sprinkle the chocolate chips along one side of the dough.

Roll the dough up halfway like a burrito. Cut the other half into thin strips, without separating it from the burrito.

Twist the strips so they resemble braids, and continue rolling the “burrito” until complete.

Place the roll on a floured baking sheet and let it rest until it doubles in size.

Brush with egg yolk and bake at 180°C for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the pan while the bread is still warm, and enjoy!
