With our world-best potato gratin recipe, you can easily make this delicious side dish from raw potatoes. Classic grandma’s style, this creamy, original potato gratin is made with milk and cream.

INGREDIENTS

1 kg waxy potatoes
20 g butter
1-2 garlic cloves
250 ml cream
250 ml milk
1 tsp salt
1 pinch ground white pepper
2 pinches ground nutmeg
1 bunch chives

PREPARATION

1. Peel the potatoes and place them in a bowl of cold water. Grease a medium-sized casserole dish with butter. Peel the garlic clove, press it into the casserole dish, and rub it into the dish.

2. Measure the cream and milk into a measuring jug, stir in the salt, pepper, and grated nutmeg.  Preheat the oven to 200°C fan/convection oven (220°C top and bottom heat). Thinly slice or grate the potatoes and arrange them evenly in the dish.

3. Pour the seasoned milk and cream mixture over the potatoes and place the dish in the oven for about 40–50 minutes. The potato gratin should turn a nice golden brown on top. Rinse the parsley, shake it dry, pluck the leaves from the stems, and roughly chop them. Sprinkle the parsley over the gratin. Enjoy!
