Cauliflower and broccoli casserole 🤩 🥳
📌With recipe
This cauliflower and broccoli casserole is a hit with the whole family: the florets are baked with a thick cheese crust! The recipe is wonderfully flavorful with cooked ham.
INGREDIENTS
1 medium-sized cauliflower (approx. 500-600 g)
1 large broccoli (approx. 500 g)
200 g cooked ham
60 g butter
60 g flour
250 ml milk
250 ml cream
½ tsp salt
1 pinch pepper
1 pinch grated nutmeg
1 – 2 tbsp olive oil
1 clove of garlic
200 g grated cheese (e.g. Gruyère or mountain cheese)

PREPARATION
1. Wash the cauliflower and broccoli. Cut both into large florets. Peel the broccoli stalk and cut into large pieces. Put the cauliflower and broccoli separately in two bowls. Cut the ham into fine cubes.
2. Cook the cauliflower florets in boiling, well-salted water for about 4 minutes until al dente. Remove the cauliflower with a slotted spoon and rinse in cold water, preferably with ice cubes. Drain the florets well on a sieve. Cook the broccoli in the same water until al dente, this takes about 3 minutes. Rinse the broccoli and drain.
3. For the sauce, melt the butter in a pan, stir in the flour and sauté over a medium heat for about 2 minutes. Deglaze with the milk, add the cream and bring the sauce to the boil, stirring constantly with a whisk, until it becomes nice and creamy. Turn off the heat so that the sauce does not burn and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees circulating air (top and bottom heat 195 degrees). Brush a casserole dish with olive oil. Peel the garlic clove, press it down and rub the casserole dish with it. Pour the finished sauce into the casserole dish. Distribute the vegetable florets and ham cubes evenly on top.
5. Spread the grated cheese generously over the casserole. Put the casserole dish in the oven and bake for approx. 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy your meal!
