Chocolate Fudge Layered
Ingredients
1. Cake Layers
1. All-purpose flour: 3 1/2 cups
2. Granulated sugar: 2 1/2 cups
3. Unsweetened cocoa powder: 1 cup
4. Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
5. Salt: 1 teaspoon
6. Whole milk: 1 1/2 cups
7. Large eggs: 3
8. Vegetable oil: 1/2 cup
9. Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons
2. Chocolate Fudge Frosting
1. Unsalted butter: 1 cup
2. Confectioners’ sugar: 2 cups
3. Unsweetened cocoa powder: 1 cup
4. Heavy cream: 2 tablespoons
5. Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
3. Optional Decorations
1. Chocolate shavings
2. Fresh raspberries
3. Whipped cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven: 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Prepare cake layers: Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Add milk, eggs, oil and vanilla extract. Divide batter evenly among prepared pans.
3. Bake: 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
4. Prepare Chocolate Fudge Frosting: Melt butter and cocoa powder in a double boiler. Whisk in confectioners’ sugar, heavy cream and vanilla extract.
5. Assemble cake: Place one cake layer on serving plate. Spread frosting. Repeat with remaining layers.
6. Decorate: Top with chocolate shavings, fresh raspberries or whipped cream (if desired).
