Instructions
1๏ธโฃ Preheat and Prepare Pans
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2๏ธโฃ Make the Cake Batter
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
Add Hot Water: Slowly stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.
Fold in White Chocolate Chips.
3๏ธโฃ Bake the Cake Layers
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
4๏ธโฃ Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
Sprinkle half of the dark chocolate chips over the cream.
Add the second cake layer. Spread whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake.
Decorate with the remaining dark chocolate chips.
5๏ธโฃ Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before slicing. This helps the flavors meld and ensures clean slices.
