Quick spaetzle casserole
You can always score points with your family with the quick spaetzle casserole! The recipe with ham and cheese can be prepared in under half an hour. The oven does the rest.
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE SPATZLE CASSEROLE
1 onion
200 g cooked ham in slices
250 g mushrooms
400 g egg noodles
Salt
2 tbsp sunflower oil
freshly ground pepper
400 ml cream (30% fat)
200 g crème fraîche (30% fat)
300 g frozen peas
150 g grated Gouda (48% fat in dry matter)
freshly grated nutmeg
ALSO
some butter for the dish
PREPARATION
1. Peel the onion and dice finely. Cut the ham into strips. Clean the mushrooms and cut them into quarters or eighths depending on their size. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees circulating air (top and bottom heat: 190 degrees) and butter a casserole dish (20 x 30 cm).
2. Cook the spaetzle in salted water according to the instructions on the packet, drain and keep warm. Sauté the onion cubes in a pan in oil for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Add the ham and mushrooms, sauté for 2 minutes and season with salt and pepper.
3. Stir the cream and crème fraîche in a large bowl until smooth and mix with the spaetzle, peas, ham, mushrooms and onions. Mix in half of the Gouda and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
4. Spread in the casserole dish, sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake in the preheated oven for approx. 25 minutes. Divide the casserole into pieces and serve with a colorful salad sprinkled with herbs if desired. Enjoy your meal!
