Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs

For the Blackberry Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup blackberry puree (from fresh or frozen blackberries, blended and strained)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Purple food coloring (optional, for a deeper hue)

For Garnish (Optional):

Fresh blackberries
Dark chocolate shavings or curls
A dusting of powdered sugar


Instructions

Prepare the Cupcakes:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners—ensures an elegant presentation and easy release.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt—creates a rich, tender base.

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla extract and melted dark chocolate, mixing well—the chocolate adds a deep, luxurious note.


Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture (dry-wet-dry-wet-dry), mixing on low until just combined—don’t overmix to keep the texture light.
